Metrostar has placed three TV-inspired books for Autumn 2010
Metrostar's Stuart Cooper and Claire Potter have helped to create and broker three new books inspired by BBC television series :
' The Great British Book of Baking' (Penguin) is based upon Love Production's new series for BBC Two, 'The Great British Bake Off'. Metrostar recruited baking expert, Linda Collister and food writer, Sheila Keating to work with Love and Penguin to create the book, which contains 120 recipes from all regions of the United Kingdom. Published under the Michael Joseph imprint in August 2010, it also features introductions from Sue Perkins and Mel Geidroyc, the series' presenters - and from Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry, the series judges.
'The Little Book of Bar Bets' (Headline) features 45 of the popular 'proposition bets' from the hit BBC Three series, 'The Real Hustle'. A small format hardback, it targets both fans of the show and anyone interested in tricking their friends into buying their drinks. Each 'bar bet' is wittyly written by Guy Adams with accompanying illustrations - making this one of the most profitable gifts for a friend this Christmas.
'The Missing DoSAC Files' (Faber) is a highly confidential Government dossier belonging to spin doctor extraordinaire, 'Malcolm Tucker' who, bizarrely, has gone and left it on a train! Despite his desperate and threatening attempts to retrieve it, it has been sold for publication to Faber & Faber. Featuring papers, emails and articles relating to Tucker's favourite department, The Department of Social & Cultural Affairs, it is political dynamite - and 'laugh out loud' funny. Armando Iannucci, Simon Blackwell, Jesse Armstrong, Tony Roche and Ian Martin - the writers of BBC Two's 'The Thick Of It' and Oscar-nominated 'In The Loop', write.
Claire Potter of Metrostar commented,
"It's been a fabulous for us to work on three very different books with incredibly talented and enthusiastic writing teams. Moreover, all three books were the subject of highly competitive bidding wars - which, gratifyingly, resulted in three different but very determined publishers taking them on. We couldn't be happier with the outcome and wish all concerned the very best for a successful and profitable Christmas.'
