Metrostar has been working with The Scout Association for two years : first of all in book publishing and now, in brand licensing as well.

We have developed and brokered book deals in two areas to date :

Macmillan Children's Books is creating a range of non-fiction children's books for the six to ten age group (Beavers and Cubs), which sees the renaissance of the famous Scouting annual. The three year deal which covers 2011, 2012 and 2013 envisages in excess of twelve new scouting books. Bear Grylls with 2012 annual

We also have placed two non-fiction books with Simon & Schuster. The first, an outdoor cookery title, is inspired by the Scout Leaders handbook, 'How To Cook An Egg In An Orange'. This will be followed by a Scouting skills book.

In licensing, Metrostar's first task is to develop the Scouts' vintage assets. Using imagery from 1940s and 50s books, annuals and badges, we are creating a style guide aimed at licensees and retailers targeting British men.

Vintage Scouts

Metrostar is seeking partners in giftware, collectibles, ceramics, stationery, apparel, outdoor equipment and other suitable categories.

Assisted by the efforts of Chief Scout, Bear Grylls, the UK membership has risen to over 400,000 young people betwwen the ages of 6 and 25. There is a waiting list of over 30,000. Beyond that, it is estimated that one in four British adult men have been involved in Scouting in some way during their lives.

Metrostar's Claire Potter comments : "Working with the Scouts brand delivers an enormous target audience for partners."
