Bod was originally created by Michael & Joanne Cole in 1963 for their four children.
Four Bod books were published by Methuen in the UK (1966) and Follett (1967) in the USA.
Adapted by Bodfilms for BBC television 1975-1984, Bod found fame as a children's animated series on BBC One's Watch With Mother strand. There were
13 x 5” stories, voiced by John Le Mesurier with music by Derek Griffiths. Bod also appeared in Australia, Scandinavia and USA (Pinwheel, Nickleodeon) and the original television series was accompanied by books, annuals and small range of merchandise.
In 2002, Michael & Joanne’s children, Alison & Lo, created two new books; ‘Bod, The Meaning of Life’ & ‘Bod’s New Leaf’ (Contender) - an event which aroused enormous media interest with coverage in
The Independent, the Daily Telegraph and The Sun.

These new books establish Bod’s character as thoughtful, warm, wise and gentle - as these extracts (or 'Bodisms') "Never let your footsteps get ahead of you" and "Go with the Flo" illustrate.
We are very keen to reflect these qualities in Bod's new licensing programme and would love to hear from book publishing, stationery & greetings companies interested in working with Bod.
The bouncy Bod theme tune, by Derek Griffiths, was used in a TV ad for Kinder and in a chart compilation (Universal).
Bod has been shown at festivals around the UK, has a Youtube page, his own website and many unofficial fan sites.
Bod is currently appearing on Nick Jr, has a CD (Trunk) and DVD (Contender).
Bod is the Welsh word for ‘person’ and the Tibetans call their homeland Bod
