Channel: BBC Two and CBBC
Type: Children’s Entertainment
Target: Girls and boys aged 6 to 12

Hider in the House is taking Saturday morning TV by storm.

First screened on BBC Two and CBBC in February 2007 at 9am, Hider became an instant hit - especially amongst children aged 6-12 and has been re-commissioned by the BBC. A second series of 20 episodes began in January 2008.

Presented by Virgin Radio hosts, JK and Joel*, Hider sets kids a massive challenge – to hide a celebrity in their house for forty-eight hours and complete a set of challenges, all without the knowledge of one of their parents.

They complete a series of challenges across two days. For every task in which the celebrity hider and the kids are successful they will win a prize, and with each challenge the risks become greater but the prizes get better. In series two it’s be even harder to keep the secret from our victim so presenters JK and Joel use ever more elaborate ruses and disguises to ensure they remain undercover.

JK and JoelJK and Joel are based in their souped up ‘spy van’ near the house. From here they will receive images from all the cameras rigged up in the house and be able to observe and direct all of the action”.

Guests include Jason Donavan, Dani Harmer (aka Tracy Beaker), Matt Stevens, Matt Di Angelo, Peter Schmichel, Lil Chris, Craig Revel Harwood and Colin Jackson.

Hider in the House performed exceptionally well
on BBC Two attracting 175,000 viewers over its first three episodes - a staggering 21% of all 6-12 year olds. This was 16% better than the slot average in share terms and 28% better in terms of numbers of viewers.

It also has a markedly more female profile than the slot average with 60% of Hider’s audience being female versus the 53% slot average.

It also screened on CBBC where it outperformed every other morning children’s series.
