Rules Of Modern Policing nominated for Licensing Award
'The Rules of Modern Policing, 1973 Edition' published by Transworld has been nominated in the category of 'Best Written or Learning Product' at this year's Licensing Awards.
A surprise cult hit of Christmas '07, 'The Rules' was inspired by the character of DCI Gene Hunt from the award-winning BBC drama, 'Life On Mars' and has sold over 80,000 copies. It will be followed by a sequel, 'The Future of Modern Policing', also by Transworld, in October 2008.
Both books were written by Guy Adams and Lee Thompson for rights owner, Kudos Film & Television. Metrostar brokered both deals.
Metrostar's Claire Potter comments : "We're absolutely delighted to be nominated - doubly so because it highlights the fact that it's not just children's licences which can generate success for publishers. With the right book idea, and talented writers, there is huge potential in licensing grown-up programming."
'Life On Mars' completed two series on BBC One in 2006 and 2007 and was followed by 'Ashes to Ashes', which also features Gene Hunt's character, in 2008. There will be a second series of Ashes to Ashes in 2009.
Other licensed products include DVDs, a CD soundtrack, calendars, posters and badges.
