Kudos appoints Metrostar to represent
BBC kids spy drama ‘MI High’

Metrostar, the brand licensing company headed by ex-BBC Worldwide marketer Claire Potter, is to represent Kudos Film and Television’s popular BBC spy drama ‘MI High’.

The most popular children’s drama of 2007, ‘MI High’ is an adventure series following the exploits of a group of inner-city high school kids, Blane, Daisy and Rose, who work as undercover spies. The spies are led by MI9 agent Lenny Bicknall who also poses as the school caretaker.

MI High AgentsLenny summons his spy taskforce by means of a small flashing light at the top of the kids' pencils, which is disguised to look like an eraser. Blane, Daisy and Rose go to the caretaker's storeroom and then descend by means of a high-speed elevator to a deep underground spy headquarters where they learn about their latest mission from Lenny.

Series two is shown on Mondays at 5pm on BBC One with the next episode shown straight after on CBBC. The previous two episodes are shown every Sunday at 4pm on CBBC. A third series has been commissioned for 2009.

A DVD (Contender), novelisations and handbook (Puffin) have been released and a national theatre tour is planned for 2009. Metrostar is seeking partners in categories such as toys, apparel, publishing, stationery, games and accessories.

Kudos Film and Television produces many critically acclaimed TV shows such as ‘Spooks’, ‘Hustle’, ‘Life on Mars’ and ‘Ashes to Ashes’ – also represented by Metrostar.

Metrostar's Managing Director Claire Potter comments,

"’MI High’ offers fantastic potential for licensees targeting girls and boys aged 7 to 12. Blane, Daisy and Rose lead exciting lives as MI9 spies but are characters kids can relate to and admire. Typical of Kudos, it’s very visual and stylish and chock full of gadgets also, which makes for stunning and distinctive licensed products."

Kudos’ Commercial Director, Daniel Isaacs said:

“MI High has already developed a huge fan base through its TV series on BBC One and CBBC. Nearly 3 million children watched series one, which rated better than established shows like Tracy Beaker, and series two is performing just as well. We are very excited about its licensing potential. ”
