Kate & Emily have been described by the Daily Mail as ‘the Trinny and Susannah of single parenting’. They offer straight-talking, practical advice on every aspect of life as a single parent, from raising children to managing the finances to moving on in your life. Their refreshingly upbeat and positive approach to the subject is much needed in a country where there are now 2.5 million parents – predominantly mothers – raising children alone.

Kate & Emily are two single mums who made friends and discovered they shared a determination to not only improve their own lives but to help others as well. So they set up a website (kateandemily.com) as a resource for single mothers, which now gets nearly 4,000 visits a week and has received nearly 250,000 visits since it started. They have also made a 15-part television series for Discovery Home & Health called Single Mums SOS With Kate & Emily.

In May 2008 Kate & Emily are publishing their first book, with Hay House, one of the world’s leading self-help publishers, in a deal brokered by Metrostar. Kate & Emily’s Guide to Single Parenting is a distillation of the advice and wisdom they have learned from their own experiences and from helping others.

Written in a straightforward, realistic and often humorous style they take the reader step-by-step through all the practical and emotional issues they will be faced with as a single parent and offer workable solutions.

Supporting the text are a range of useful and lively features including ‘top tips’, ‘problem-page’ letters, planners and quotes from celebrities who are single parents themselves or were the children of single parents.
