The Scout Association
Metrostar has been asked by The Scout Association to seek a publishing partner for books targeted at young readers aged between 6 and 10.5 years - the ages of their Beavers and Cub Scouts membership.
Stuart Cooper and Claire Potter at Metrostar have created a publishing proposal covering book ideas and content suggestions for an annual, non-fiction and fiction publishing for this age group. This is being presented to a number of leading children's publishers.
The Scout Association's United Kingdom membership stands at over 500,000 with a waiting list of over 30,000 children and young people. Membership has returned to peak levels from the 1970s, assisted by the efforts of former Chief Scout Peter Duncan and new Chief Scout, Bear Grylls.
The Association now feels the time is right to extend the Scouting brand and experience to children beyond the membership so as well as targeting current Beavers and Cubs, it is hoped to find a publisher who can extend the reach of the Scouting brand to non-members of the same age with high quality and imaginative books.
